Alitalia Sales Process Entered New Phase. The Italian carrier has opened a new phase in its sales process, setting a deadline of 15 September for expressions of interest in making a binding offer.

A source with knowledge of the matter says that within 10 days after expiry of this deadline, Alitalia's special commissioners will consider the offers and notify the parties that they have fulfilled the "requirements". The selected candidates will have until October 2 to submit a binding offer.

This will be followed by the phase where they have the opportunity to "improve" their offers before making the final offers on November 5th.

Italian media reports suggest that up to 13 parties made non-binding proposals for Alitalia in July. Ryanair has confirmed that it did.
